Sleep Apnea
Apnea not only makes us snore. Decreased oxygenation leads to excessive daytime sleepiness, depression, and loss of concentration. It can even lead to serious cardiovascular problems. People with obstructive sleep apnea have a temporary blockage of the upper airway during sleep, which causes a decrease in blood oxygenation. People with obstructive sleep apnea usually snort, gasp, or have a little choking. This pattern can be repeated from 5 to 30 times every hour throughout the night, as a consequence, an optimal or restorative rest is not obtained.
